Toby Jenkins Art

Toby Jenkins is a New Zealand based multidisciplinary artist, whose practice centres on automotive form, technical illustration, and large-format painted works.

Originally trained in illustration under Ian Watt, he built a name commissioning works to brands and companies in Wellington’s bustling streetwear, skateboarding and fine arts communities. Toby developed a strong foundation in composition, line discipline and visual storytelling. Early involvement with mural collectives and custom paint studios led to a long-standing engagement with airbrushing and automotive mediums that continue to inform his studio practice today.

Since 2011, Toby has built an established tattoo career, refining his skills across multiple studios in New Zealand, United Kingdom and Europe. This parallel discipline has contributed to a controlled approach to proportion, form and composition with a high attention to detail under time pressure.

In recent years, his focus has increasingly shifted toward fine art automotive studies and illustrative works that examine mechanical design, heritage and nostalgia. Working primarily in airbrush and acrylic on canvas, Toby produces considered, large-format pieces intended for private collections and enthusiast communities.

With over two decades of experience across tattooing, illustration and automotive custom painting, his current work celebrating generation defining vehicles from around the world is an ode to the visionary work of automotive designers and engineers of the 20th century.
